Smoked Turkey Ham & Nopales Cubano Sandwiches
Prep: 15 minutes   Cook: 8 minutes   Serves: 4

 

½ cup FUD® or La Chona® Mexican Style Sour Cream

1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

4 bolillo rolls, split

½ pound FUD® Smoked Turkey Ham, thinly sliced

1 cup La Chona Melting Chihuahua Mexico Style

1 cup drained and chopped nopalitos (tender cactus)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In small bowl, whisk sour cream and mustard. Makes about ½ cup.

  2. Spread sour cream mixture on inside bottom halves of rolls; top with turkey ham, cheese and nopalitos. Spread outside top halves of rolls with 1½ tablespoons butter; close sandwiches.

  3. In batches if necessary, heat griddle or large skillet over medium heat; add sandwiches, butter side down, and cover with aluminum foil. Place second heavy skillet or pan over foil to press down on sandwiches; cook 4 minutes or until bottoms of sandwiches are golden brown.

  4. Spread tops of sandwiches with remaining 1½ tablespoons butter; turn sandwiches. Cover with foil and skillet; reduce heat to medium-low and cook 4 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown and cheese melts.
